reading of the Epistle of Paul to the Galatians (2, 16-20)
Brothers, knowing that the man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law because by works of the law will not be justified no mortal. If then, trying to be justified in Christ, we found ourselves sinners, Christ would minister of sin? Do not be! For if I build again what I destroyed, I proved transgressor. I, in fact, through the law died to the Law, so that living for God have been crucified with Christ; alive, but not I, but Christ lives in me. The life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

The Lord said: "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it. For what profit a man to gain the whole world and its life suffers injury? What could a man give in exchange for his life? If anyone is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels. " He said to them, "Truly I tell you there are some here who shall not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."
